Autoglym were once again in attendance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, this year we were the guests of legendary tyre manufacturer Michelin. The Michelin stand was impressive to say the least, with plenty of metal to keep the Technical Services Team busy, including a mirror finish Audi R8. Unlike other mirror finish cars you may have seen, this was not merely wrapped in vinyl, this was a bare metal shell meticulously machine polished over many hours to a perfect shine! The car attracted many hands that all wanted to touch the bodywork keeping the team very busy removing fingerprints that stood out so well on the flawless finish.

Not content with staying in one place we sought out one of the many motor manufacturers that Autoglym works with who also have a presence at Britain’s finest motor show. First stop was BAC, fresh from the Top Gear studios where their Mono took second spot on the power lap board at the hands (and feet) of the Stig. They were using a new car for the Goodwood event and the dark grey colour scheme looked super in the glorious sunshine that bathed the grounds. It was also doing a good job of showing up the dust that was all over the site and the team were kept busy with the Rapid Detailer, but also topping to chat with visitors about our products.
Speaking of dust, those of a nervous disposition should look away now…
Look at the dust on that! The unusually prolonged period of good British weather turned Goodwood into a dust bowl. This was the Supercar Parking area, an area set aside for guests with more exotic cars so they were all in one place. If the event went on for a week, they may have had to dig their cars out…
After we had recovered from the dusty horror show we headed off to our next appointment, the Michelin Super Car Paddock.
Here the cars that were running up the famous hill were driving in and out of their allotted bays, and in between runs we were freshening up some of the exciting cars on display. One such car was the superb Noble M600 that was considerably cleaner than the dust example above. Autoglym have worked closely with British manufacturer Noble to help develop a system for protecting the carbon fibre areas of their car and we always jump at the chance to help our Noble friends where we can.
No rest for Team Autoglym, and it was over to the Caterham stand. Another great British manufacturer with a proud history that is working with Autoglym to care for their and their customers vehicles. Caterham had a fine array of machinery on display from a great little go kart to an awesome F1 car! They also had the SP/300.R and we couldn’t resist this arty shot of Ryan detailing the rear wing.
We spotted our BTCC friends from Honda Yuasa racing. Gordon Sheddon was looking cool at the wheel and tore up the hill in the number 1 Civic.
From the sublime to the strange the Wacky Racers were in need of some Autoglym attention. Never one to leave a lady in distress Barney stepped in and spruced up Penelope Pitstop’s Compact Pussycat race car.
As a final treat to ourselves we went in search of something truly special, a car that sums up what Goodwood is all about, a 1968 Hurst Hemi Under Glass Plymouth Barracuda. It is the cars like this that make Goodwood so much fun. This Hurst Hemi Under Glass project started life as a demonstration car and has been driving on two wheels ever since. It didn’t disappoint and Autoglym made sure we had a view point outside Goodwood House as Bob Riggle stood the car on its rear wheels and wowed the crowds.
It was a fantastic weekend at Goodwood and Team Autoglym were very happy to attend once again. Not only did we all come back with great tans but we got to work with the best British manufacturers at the best British car event over the best weekend of weather we have had for many a year. Our products performed flawlessly and allowed us to work quickly and efficiently providing the high quality finish demanded by the owners and teams. They proved themselves in the field (literally) and were a testament to the whole Autoglym family that develop, produce, pack, ship, store and sell our award winning range. Roll on next year!
